Ik wil deze blog in de eerste plaats opdragen als eerbetoon aan alle meisjes en vrouwen die er voor gekozen hebben om alles wat betreft lichaamsbeharing en dan vooral schaamhaar te laten staan en niet af te scheren volgens de mode die reeds jaren heerst. Uiteraard is deze blog ook voor de liefhebbers ervan.

Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat ik niet de enige ben die hier een grote voorliefde/passie voor heeft, voor wat mij betreft dan vooral schaamhaar. Ik vind het mooi, sexy, heel erotisch en opwindend. Ik laat iedereen de vrije keus hierin en heb dan ook het volle respect voor diegenen die er niet voor zijn, heb dan ook respect voor mijn keuze. Bedoeling van deze blog is om alles wat betreft schaamhaar en lichaamsbeharing op een overzichtelijke manier bijeen te brengen want naar mijn weten zijn er maar weinig blogs of websites die dit onderwerp op een serieuze manier toelichten in zowel Belgie als Nederland. Met foto’s, alsook artikels (zowel nederlandstalig als engelstalig), interviews, verhalen, meningen, humor, filmbesprekingen, websitebesprekingen e.d. wil ik deze blog graag aktueel en up-to-date houden betreft informatie over dit onderwerp. Onderaan vind je ook allerlei interessante links naar sites en blogs over schaamhaar.

Ik kan best aannemen dat er vrouwen zijn die het helemaal niet mooi en niet prettig vinden om haar in het aangezicht, op armen en/of benen te hebben, daar waar het zichtbaar is voor iedereen. Dat dit hen in een zeer lastige en onprettige situatie brengt is begrijpelijk en spijtig genoeg voor sommigen dramatisch. Het is de buitenwereld die zoiets niet accepteert en veroordeelt als lelijk en onaanvaardbaar wat uiteraard helemaal niet zo is. Ik hoop van harte dat er een dag komt dat dit alles als normaal aanvaard wordt.

Schaamhaar daarentegen zit op een naar de buitenwereld toe niet zichtbare plaats en blijft daarom een plek waar iedereen zelf over bepaald wat ermee te doen en hoe je ermee naar buitenkomt, in hoeverre je dit aan anderen wil laten zien. Wees er als vrouw trots op om schaamhaar te hebben, het is mooi zowel in kleur als vorm en als hoeveelheid. Het is aantrekkelijk, verleidelijk en vertelt iets over je persoonlijkheid als vrouw, wees gewoon jezelf en laat alles zoals het is, puur natuur maar uiteraard verzorgd.

Het is geenszins de bedoeling om er een pornoblog van te maken – die zijn er al genoeg – maar een leuk en tofogend overzichtelijk geheel betreft het onderwerp. Sommige foto’s zullen misschien al wat erotischer overkomen, het mag echter niet te hard zijn maar dan ook weer niet te soft. Alle reacties, meningen, opinies, belevenissen en verhalen zijn uiteraard welkom en zullen met plezier gepubliceerd worden. Iedereen die zich geroepen voelt mag gerust foto’s insturen (onherkenbaar is ook geen probleem) met een woordje uitleg, een mening of reactie.

Ik doe ook een oproep aan alle meisjes en vrouwen die hiervoor geinteresseerd zijn en dezelfde mening hebben over schaamhaar of lichaamsbeharing in het algemeen, laat horen dat jullie er zijn en dat er nog velen zijn die dezelfde passie hebben als ik, dat schaamhaar gewoon mooi is zoals het is. Velen zijn van mening dat het vies is en onverzorgd, het tegendeel is waar. Een vrouw die zich verzorgd, ruikt lekker en is mooi zoals ze is, geschoren of niet. Het is geenszins de bedoeling om discussies hierover te beginnen maar enkel op een positieve manier dit onderwerp te benaderen.

Ik hoop dat deze blog het taboe over schaamhaar en lichaamsbeharing een beetje kan indijken en dat iedereen er een beetje meer open voor staat. Ideeën, voorstellen en suggesties om dit onderwerp meer onder de aandacht van de mensen te brengen, te laten zien dat het mooi is en dat vrouwen zich hier absoluut niet voor moeten schamen zijn altijd welkom. Er is altijd de mogelijkheid om vrijblijvend contact op te nemen en een mailtje te sturen naar dit email adres. Dit alles is uiteraard enkel mijn persoonlijke mening maar zoals ik al zei ben ik ervan overtuigd dat er nog velen zijn die dezelfde mening delen. Dit kan je lezen en volgen op mijn blog.

Wat is er mis met mijn haar? Een vraag die mij bezig heeft gehouden sinds het, behalve op mijn hoofd, opeens overal begon te groeien.

In de jaren ’80 leek het nog niet eens zo’n taboe, maar toen ik ging studeren, werd mij door een blonde, niet zo’n behaarde vriendin duidelijk gemaakt dat okselhaar echt niet kon en de bikinilijn moest al helemaal rigoureus bijgewerkt worden.

“Jij hebt makkelijk praten”, dacht ik. Ik probeerde vol te houden dat de natuurlijke look de juiste was. Dat je geen lesbienne of een superfeministische kenau bent als je je haar laat staan. Dat het haar ook een functie heeft. Zo’n mooi zwart driehoekje vind ik mooi. Het is bovendien heel erg oneerlijk verdeeld tussen blonde en donkere vrouwen.

Na het ontharen wordt het er eigenlijk nooit mooier op. De onderhuids doorschemerende stoppels maken de oksels en de bikinilijn tot een paar grauw-donkere vlekken.

Toch begon ik mij te schamen. Ik kocht een epileerapparaatje. En van de ene op de andere dag was ik een serial hair-remover geworden. Ik vond het trouwens wel belachelijk dat er voor vrouwen dumbo-proof scheermesjes op de markt kwamen, in roze tinten, met aloë vera-strips en met extra brede houders, want ja, wij vrouwen zijn blijkbaar zulke onhandige schepsels.

Een donkerharige vriendin ging zelfs zo ver dat zij het ‘vachtje’ op haar onderarmen, dat ze verafschuwde, liet ‘flitsen’. Haar armen mochten vervolgens de hele zomer niet in de zon. Ik vond het er niet mooier op geworden. Waar voorheen heel gelijkmatig lieve zachte beharing was geweest, was nu een onnatuurlijk kaal landschap met hier en daar een eigenwijs en hardnekkig haartje.

Zwemmen of naar het strand, ik stelde het liever uit. Want dan moest er weer flink gewerkt worden. Met niks dan pukkeltjes en ingroeiende haren als resultaat.

De benen, ja die zijn nog wel te doen. Niet eens al te behaard trek ik daar zo een scheermesje langs en als het zomer wordt stap ik over op mijn Silkepil, het inmiddels twintig jaar oude apparaat, door mij ook wel de grasmaaier genoemd. Discreet is het niet. Als ik dat apparaat aanzet, kan de hele flat het horen! Ik moet echt wel tien keer over een centimeter heen en weer bewegen voordat de haartjes er uit getrokken zijn, maar dan blijven ze ook wel een poosje weg.

Gladde benen vind ik sexy. Dat komt vooral doordat het bij de meeste vrouwen niet zo mooi gelijkmatig en zacht krullend groeit zoals bij mannen vaak wel het geval is. Het is eigenlijk een rommelzooitje. Een paar haren op de kuiten en aan de voorkant van het onderbeen wat meer. Met pech ook nog wat op de grote teen. Dat is echt wel gruwelijk, vooral als je mooie zomersandaaltjes aan hebt.

Ik ben dus toch overstag gegaan. Want de bikinilijn vind ik inmiddels ook lelijk staan als ik een badpak aan heb. Verder stoor ik mij eigenlijk niet aan vrouwen met wat haar onder de oksels. Er zijn genoeg websites te vinden met foto’s van bekende actrices die zich ‘hebben laten gaan’. Herinner je de ophef nog over de oksels van Julia Roberts?

Natuurlijk gaat het dan niet over de oksels. Nee, het impliceert dat zo’n vrouw op ander plekken waarschijnlijk ook haar heeft! Dan staat okselbeharing ineens gelijk aan schaamhaar, aan seks. Stel je voor. Schaamteloos.

In 2007 zag ik een BBC 3 documentaire, F*** off, I’m a Hairy Woman. Een hilarisch programma, waarin de Brits-Pakistaanse moslima comédienne en columnist Shazia Mirza werd uitgedaagd om haar lichaamsbeharing een poos niet meer te scheren of te ontharen. Met de bedoeling om van haar lichaamshaar te gaan houden, het zelfs sexy te gaan vinden. Een zeer dapper besluit. Maar dan vooral omdat zij ook nog eens te maken had met een zichtbaar snorretje.

Ze rekende uit hoeveel het kost om al dat haar steeds maar te verwijderen. En vroeg zich af of er niet iets nuttigs met al dat haar gedaan zou kunnen worden. Ook probeerde ze mannen zover te krijgen om een stuk van hun been te laten ontharen. Het zette mij aan het denken. What’s wrong with being a hairy woman? Waarom ben je volgens sommigen opeens vies of lui?

Smoothies, niks voor mij. Gelukkig vind ik het ook helemaal niet mooi. Het is meer iets voor mensen met blond haar. Ik werk mijn haar wat bij, tot ik het acceptabel vind. Ik heb mijn haargrens getrokken.

How I learned to love my hairy bits.

Recently I have been looking like a King Kong tribute act - I am hairy, really very hairy - as part of a journey to learn to love my body hair. I've been growing everything for a comedy documentary about hairy women. My friends don't understand why I am doing it. I've told them it's for the money but really it is for the challenge - because I didn't think I could do it. I have been a serial hair remover - waxing, shaving and plucking - since I was 14, when I should have been learning about the speed of molecular activity in an equilibrium reaction. Instead, I was bleaching my moustache. I have never known anything else other than being smooth and lovely. To me, being hair-free is associated with being feminine, beautiful and sexy. Could ditching the razor, tweezers and wax help me change my mind about body hair being unattractive?

My journey begins in Hove, Britain's hairiest city (we know this because we looked it up in the Yellow Pages - Hove has the most beauty salons that get rid of the most amount of hair). I dress up as a gorilla and roam the streets, asking people what they think of hairy women and what parts of the body women most remove hair from.

Most men say they think facial and body hair on a woman is disgusting, with comments including: "I wouldn't go out with a woman who was hairy, that's just lazy", "It's disgusting", "It's unattractive". It's a good job they can't see what is really hibernating underneath my gorilla outfit.

And the women? Most say they remove almost all body hair - arms, legs, underarms, Brazilian, upper lip, chin, eyebrows. I meet one woman who had her pubic hair waxed in the shape of a heart, then dyed red with diamante stones on it as a Valentine's Day gesture. I wonder if her boyfriend did the same in return. And what next? A python? An elephant? What happened to being natural?

I had assumed that a lot of women were doing this for men and because of men - but it appears women can be just as ruthless towards other women. Every morning I go swimming, and in three months of hair growing, while men have rarely battered an eyelid at the bush hanging out of my leopard-print swimming costume, women certainly have. (I think the men just assumed it was part of the costume.) I walked into the sauna the other day and the two women in there did a double take and walked straight out with their backs against the walls. I didn't mind - I had the sauna all to myself.

But I am not so confident when I visit Loaded magazine. When I walk into the office with six weeks' worth of body hair, a young, confident writer comes over: "Hi, come through to my casting couch." Apparently, this is where girls are auditioned. Audition? The office is plastered with pictures of Abi Titmuss, Jordan and other glamour models with extraordinary sized breasts and not a hair in sight. The air smells of pure testosterone. I sit like a 15-year-old boy, mouth wide open, very confused. Could I be in Loaded? They look at my face: "Yeah you're all right". Then they look at my legs: "No way! Why have you got hairy legs?" Then I show them my underarms: "That's disgusting! I can't believe you left the house like that. You've painted your toenails and you've got hairy legs, what's that about? Our readers don't want to look at something like that!" Hairy women, it seems, are more suited to fetish magazines.

I can't believe the prejudice and stigma attached to hairy women - it makes me want to grow my body hair even more, and continue to wear sexy, revealing clothes. But it's not just the lads mags who demand immaculate, smooth-looking women. We take a visit to the National Gallery, to see if women have historically been painted with hair - but even as long ago as the 16th century, nudes were hair-free. Look at Renoir's A Nymph by a Stream (1869) - smooth, perfect, and without any trace of facial or body hair.

To me, there seems to be something both worrying and obscene about society's requirement for adult women to remove the body hair that proclaims them sexually mature adults, and turn themselves into facsimiles of pre-pubertal girls. So I decide to organise a fashion show to celebrate women's body hair. The artist Tracey Moberly offers to design and make lingerie made from natural body hair for ordinary women to model on the opening night of London Fashion week. It sounds disgusting.

It is actually amazing. I make an appeal for hairy models on Channel 4's Richard and Judy - and more than 200 women ring in. (Afterwards, my dad calls me to say I have brought shame on the family by revealing my hairy armpit on national television. I say I could have showed him a lot worse.)

The Cafe de Paris is filled with hairy women with no idea of what they might be modelling. When I tell them they have to model lingerie made from the body hair of (among others) Richard and Judy, Howard Marks, Mark Thomas and Daisy Asquith, spun with raw silk, I think they might all leave. Incredibly, they stay. Four hours later, having learned how to strut down a catwalk in lingerie, these women walk out to a crowd of 300 people - happy that they can be their hairy selves.

Hirsutisme is niet zomaar wat haartjes hier en daar. Het is overbeharing op plekken waar doorgaans geen of weinig haar groeit. Niet een gewone oksel, niet wat pluis op de schenen, niet een bosje schaamhaar of één haar op de bovenlip. Kortom, de hoeveelheid maakt voor de (meeste) vrouwen wel degelijk het grote verschil.

Je moet je afvragen wáárom vrouwen denken dat het haar lelijk is en dat het er niet hoort. Dit wordt stelselmatig gepropageerd met als gevolg dat vrouwen gaan denken dat hun lichaamshaar lelijk is en dat het onnatuurlijk is om veel lichaamshaar te hebben. Daarbij wordt voorbij gegaan aan het punt dat het in de meeste gevallen wel natuurlijk is en dat het volkomen normaal is dat ze veel lichaamshaar hebben.

Ik wil jullie graag een hart onder de riem steken. Er is niets om je voor te schamen. Leer van jezelf te houden zoals je bent. Haargroei bij vrouwen is iets natuurlijks en de natuur is iets Goddelijks (zonder daar iets religieus mee te bedoelen, maar de natuur is een hoog goed). Ik vind het erg mooi om een vrouw te zien die de durf heeft haar haren gewoon te laten groeien en lak te hebben aan de normen die mensen haar opdringen, of het nu gaat om behaarde benen, oksels, of een behaard gezicht. Deze wereldlijke normen laten ons allen ronddolen in de kooi waarin de maatschappij ons heeft willen opsluiten. Alsjeblieft, doe het jezelf niet aan, kies voor vrijheid.

I decide to head over to the photo section to get an idea of the amount of content on the site and I am again instantly surprised, as there are two categories listed: "Photos of our girls" and "Home made photos." There are over 15,000 photos in the main section and over 3000 in the home made section (which they consider bonus content). That's a lot more than I expected from an exclusive niche site. The photo sets are listed by thumbnail at 12 sets per page. 14 pages of this means about 150 sets in the main section. Clicking on a set opens up the thumbnail gallery for it and it's all laid out pretty nicely, with .zip files for each set available right off the bat. You get the pictures seperated into pages of 18 per page and you can scan the pages easily and efficiently. My only problem with the setup here is that you can't go directly back to the page on which you selected that set. You have to go back to the main photo page and then select the page you were on. That's not a problem if you're spidering, but for me, the site was moving a little sluggishly. There are obviously lots of variables affecting this, but the thumbs took a while to load on my broadband connection. Another problem with spidering is that, when you click on a picture, a new window opens up with their picture viewer in it. And, if you click on another picture, it opens in that same viewer, not a seperate window unless you specifically tell it to do so. It's a minor detail and I'm sure they think it's being more resource efficient, but it would be convenient in some cases to have the images open in their own windows.

Each set varies in size, but most contain, for some reason, either about 30 or about 100 pictures a piece. The content here is almost 100% solo girl, sometimes including penetration and very rarely a boy/girl or girl/girl scene. The quality of the photos varies as well, though most of them are of a resolution above 1000x700 pixels. This is a decent quality, but a high quality option would be a nice touch. The images are not the most professional I've seen, but it's obvious that attention was paid to lighting and set design and whatnot- there are not amateur photos here.

Sometimes the composition of the photographs is weird, as if some of them were cropped to fit a certain size and a head is cut off or someting similarly annoying. Chances are, though, you're here for the hair if you're here at all I guess. Speaking of heads, I should point out that these models are, for the most part, not professional "standard" porn models. These girls truly do look just like normal girls for the most part (I even saw a girl wearing a cast). I supopose the hair fetish is a kind of unique one in that the models who do this kind of work regularly can petty much only do stuff for hair fetishists since the mainstream industry is so shave-centric. So it's unlikely you'll recognize any of these models.

The home made photos are about what you'd expect: varying in quality and content, but all on-topic. If you doubted that the main section's girls were amateurs, you will have no doubts about these girls. Plenty of flaws here. These sets are generally just a few pictures a piece and usually include something relatively hardcore. I do wonder where these pictures came from, because I doubt there are enough members of this particular site to have provided all of them directly.

The video section is significantly smaller than the photo section. In fact, there are only 26 videos up at the time of this review. The videos are of very amateur quality- all sorts of white balancing problems, poor audio and general low quality. The video is mostly boy/girl stuff with some solo as well. The videos apparently don't stream and are only downloadable in one format, which is a 350x240 MPG file- not exactly the DVD quality they advertised, but it's decent enough for the quality of most of these vids. This content is clearly not the focus of the site and so they shouldn't be judged too harshly on it. However, I do feel that they put a bit too much emphasis on it in the preview considering the low quality and quantity of it.

Bonus content includes a flippin' ton of hair-based stories with clever titles like "Jane Hair" and whatnot. The section labelled "Bonus" is just a call for entries for their home made section, so maybe that answers my question about where those came from. I'm a little disapointed that there's not more here, but it's not fair to expect bonus content I Suppose- it's just become such a standard that I've grown accustomed to it.

Ik vond het een leuk idee om een nieuw label met foto's van zwangere vrouwen toe te voegen. Een zwangere vrouw die nieuw leven met zich meedraagt met een volle bos schaamhaar, mooi toch. Opwindend en zalig om naar te kijken, of niet soms? Veel plezier ermee.

Is Pubic Hair Coming Back Into Fashion?

New pictures of Dutch model Saskia De Brauw in vintage Versace jewelry, stilettos, and nothing else, shot for the magazine Industrie are notable for one thing: they actually show her pubic hair. While toplessness is practically a staple of fashion photography, a frank depiction of pubic hair — or even just the acknowledgement of pubic hair's existence — had become a sort of oughts-age taboo.

This year's Pirelli Calendar, which Mario Sorrenti turned into a 24-oversized-page celebration of the male gaze, was obviously rife with full-frontal nudity. But at the key moment, a funny kind of modesty prevails: here a wrist obscures Lara Stone's crotch, there a shadow falls over Kate Moss's, and there the soaking wet white garment that fully reveals the shape of Isabeli Fontana's areolas pulls discreetly, and opaquely, away. Everything gets slightly blurry at the crucial cleft. From the waist down, these women are all shown to be about as featureless as Barbie. De Brauw, coincidentally, also posed for Sorrenti's calendar: her shots betray no hint of the hair Industrie was apparently comfortable enough to let her rock.

It wasn't always this way. While depicting pubic hair in fine art was long considered obscene — Goya's La Maja Desnuda from c.a. 1797-1800 is the first example in the Western canon, and even six decades later Gustave Courbet's L'Origine du Monde was highly controversial (and perhaps still is in certain circles: Facebook took down pages devoted to the painting just last year) — the advent of photography helped bring about a new kind of frankness about the human body. And fashion photography was interested in nudes for decades before women became interested in Brazilians: the 1970s, '80s and '90s work of Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts, and especially Helmut Newton all shows plenty of pubic hair.

But then came the J sisters, and Carrie Bradshaw, and low-rise jeans, and mainstream porn — or, at least, these are the things that journalists who write "Hey! What's up with pubic hair?" trend pieces always blame — and slowly, pubic hair became an uncommon sight in the pages of even the edgiest fashion magazines. It was unclean. It was too suggestive. It was weird. The 2000s were not kind to women's pubic hair: Agyness Deyn had a little Hitler 'stache, sure, but that was about it. Naomi Wolf, writing in New York, noted the existence of a great, generational pubic hair divide. Tom Ford had Mario Testino photograph Carmen Kass for a Gucci campaign exposed and waxed into a "G": fashion's ultimate instrumentalization of pubic hair. Actresses made sure to point out that they were wearing historically-accurate merkins when their nude scenes betrayed even a hint of hair. (Okay, so some of them still do that.) The message was clear: nobody had any pubic hair anymore.

But is the bush back? Pirelli Calendar aside, De Brauw's Industrie spread is perhaps a sign of a new flexibility in fashion when it comes to women having hair. Earlier this year, Angela Lindvall posed for Arena Hommes Plus in a pair of see-through underwear that clearly showed her pubic hair. Crystal Renn similarly went literally à poil for Steven Meisel and Vogue Paris. And all of the supermodels whom LOVE magazine photographed for its third issue, which came out last year, had pubic hair. Admittedly, the concept of the shoot was heavily inspired by Newton's old work, but still.

Now that the Atlantic is telling us that even 22-year-olds in Minnesota know about Brazilians — and that their bro-dude partners, having never seen a woman with any pubic hair, proclaim the mere idea to be "disgusting" — obviously fashion can't be into hairless vadge. Fashion has to be against the mainstream! Pubic hair is now being validated by the coolest of fashion magazines. Adjust accordingly.

Voor alle trouwe lezers van mijn blog en uiteraard ook alle andere schaamhaarliefhebbers ter wereld: mijn allerbeste wensen voor het nieuwe jaar. Laten we hopen dat de trend voor pro-schaamhaar zich ook dit jaar voortzet en het taboe erond stilletjes aan wegneemt. Er is een lichte positieve stijging maar het is nog maar een begin. Maar het begin is er en dat is het belangrijkste. En met veel moed proberen we dat begin voort te zetten tot het schaamhaar terug is zodat elke vrouw die er rondloopt er zich niet voor hoeft te schamen. Terug naar de natuur, het pure bos, de weelderige dos in al zijn pracht en praal. "Schaamhaar rules the world".

Ik heb een nieuw label in het leven geroepen nameleijk: behaarde fakes. Vind het wel grappig en leuk om te zien hoe de vrouwen eruit zouden zien moesten ze niet geschoren zijn. Kwestie van de fantasie een beetje de vrije loop te kunnen laten. Gewoon kijken en genieten zou ik zeggen.
